Sharks are opportunistic and will feed on almost any offering including artificial plugs, flies and of course dead bait. Sharks can be caught in deeper dirtier water in Everglades National Park or can be "chummed up" on the flats for sight casting.
We have many species of sharks in the waters surrounding Florida Bay and the Keys flats. The black tip shark will take off on blistering runs and will sometimes even jump. Bull and Lemon sharks are also very prevalent in these areas and will definitely put you and your tackle to the test with fish from 30 pounds up to 300 pounds. If you just want a show, you'd want to hook up on a Spinner shark. These are usually mistaken for Black tips but can be distinguished easily by their acrobatic, corkscrew spins as they clear the water trying to attain their freedom. Whatever species you hook, hold on tight, as your rod bends under their steady powerful course away from the boat.
