SW Florida/The Everglades - Fly and Light-tackle fishing

The waters of Naples, Marco Island, The Ten Thousand Islands and The Everglades National Park are vast and richly diverse in fish species. In the same fishing charter, it is possible to catch Bass in the freshwater, Redfish in the backcountry, Tarpon in the rivers, Snook on the beaches, Trout on the flats, as well as, Permit and Cobia on near-shore structure. This vast area of protected water means that bad weather days are virtually non-existent. There are always sheltered places with fish. Fly fishing the Everglades is wonderful for this reason alone. And did I mention Tarpon? Southwest Florida is the capitol of Tarpon action with large numbers of large hungry fish, ready to give you a show like no other. Fly and Light-Tackle fishing in these never-ending waters requires several key ideas and methods. My goal is to give you the best possible opportunities to catch that sought after trophy fish or mouth-watering table-fare. I am prepared to help the total novice as well as the angler who has fished for many years. I also realize that angler capabilities combined with weather, tides and the like, present situations, often from day to day, that vary greatly. With this in mind, each day’s fishing is tailored to give you the best situations under which to fish. What I, Captain Rob want more than all else is for you to remember and treasure your experiences aboard the Front Runner and to return many times as a friend. You will be exposed to a lot of wildlife and ecological views and experiences along with the fishing and fish tales. It is quite necessary to understand and be exposed to things that shape and effect our environment here and ultimately affect the health of our fisheries and marine ecosystems.

We will be fishing aboard: “The FrontRunner” 2007 Ranger 18’3 Ghost, Powered by a Dependable Yamaha 4-Stroke

Fly tackle provided by: G-Loomis and Sage rods. Finor, Tibor, Ross and Scientific Angler reels. 3M Scientific Angler Fly lines

Spin and bait-casting tackle provided by: Redbone, Cape fear and Penn rods, Penn and Shimano Reels, Power-Pro lines

And of course, bring your own favorites.

I supply all licenses, tackle, ice, water and cooler. Anglers need to be responsible for a good pair of polarized sunglasses, (brown or copper lenses), sun screen, hat, camera, food and additional drink. I take two to three anglers maximum:
